The Spanish itself

• Sentences of ten to fifteen words, one idea in each.
• The present tense doing almost all the work, with the preterite and the imperfect arriving in the last third of the level.
• No subjunctive, no conditional, and nothing reported at second hand.
• A vocabulary small enough that the same words come back on the next page, which is what makes them stick.
